Over the last couple of days the children have really enjoyed running around outside and playing with all the outdoor resources with all their lovely friends.

Pirate Day

Posted by EYFS | Posted in General News | Posted on 25-07-2016

What a fantastic way to end our time in Reception! Today we had a wonderful Pirate Day. We have shared lots of stories and songs, and worked our way through a carousel of four activities.
1. Building a pirate ship with large bricks.
2. Making pirate jewellery with pasta and beads.
3. Making our own little pirates – a craft activity.
4. A treasure hunt which took us all around school. We found the treasure – a pirate balloon each!
We also had a special snack and had fun walking the plank. What a busy day!

It’s our last day at school tomorrow – how time flies! Please remember that we finish early at 2.15

The children named our three little chicks Chicken Licken, Henny Penny and Lightning McQueen. Sadly we have had to say goodbye to our beautiful chicks. Nursery staff and children would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to The Agricultural and Rural Centre in Romiley for providing the eggs and for the opportunity for us to observe the eggs in the incubator and then the process that the chicks go through as they hatch. All of which provided staff and children with a real, meaningful, and fun learning experience.

What a busy week we’ve had in nursery!

Thank you to everyone who attended the children’s graduation – we hope you enjoyed listening to them singing the songs they have learnt over the course of the year. A BIG well done to each and every child in nursery. Miss Boulton, Miss Jones and Mrs Wells were so proud of you all.

There is no set homework this weekend, but we would like you to do the following:

  • Read your final reading book of the year.  Please make sure that it is returned to us on Monday.
  • Prepare your costume for our Pirate Day on Monday.  You will need to bring 50p with you and a toilet roll tube for a craft activity.  Thank you.

The children officially got to meet our baby chicks. Today they had the opportunity to see the chicks really close up and even stroke them. The children were fascinated by them when we let them loose on the floor as they ran around. They especially found them funny when they did poos on the carpet! At present our three little chicks do not have names. Can you and your child help us with some suggestions? We will then vote for the names we like best during the week.
